What's Inside

The first 5 of 17 steps

  1. A letter or email about renovations is not a notice.Keep paying rent and keep living there. Do not sign anything yet.
  2. A Notice of Dispute Resolution Proceeding means your landlord applied for an order.Read every page and note the hearing date and file number.
  3. A Four Month Notice (RTB-29) is for demolition or conversion only. You have 30 days after receiving it to dispute. If you do not, the Act treats you as accepting that the tenancy ends.
  4. A Mutual Agreement (RTB-8) is optional.Signing it gives up the compensation a notice or order would bring.
  5. Write down when and how each document reached you.Deadlines run from when you receive it.
