Alberta Deposit Return Checklist

1. Do the move-out inspection with the landlord.It must happen within one week before or after you give up possession (s.19(2)). Sign one of the two tenant statements.
2. Ask for your copy of the report.The landlord must give it to you forthwith after the inspection (s.19(2)).
3. Hand back every key and note the date and time.The 10-day clock runs from the day you give up possession (s.46(2)).
4. Give your new mailing address in writing.Keep a copy so the refund has somewhere to go.
5. Expect the full deposit plus any interest,or the balance with a statement of account showing what was used (s.46(2)(a)-(b)).
