Ontario and BC Landlord Rules Checklist

1. Use the right cap for 2027: Ontario 1.9%, BC 2.2%.
2. Ontario: at least 90 days' written notice on the N1.For February 1, 2027, 90 days back is November 3, 2026; give it earlier.
3. BC: three full months on Form RTB-7.For February 1, 2027, the tenant must receive it by October 31, 2026; mail earlier still.
4. BC: write the new rent to the cent and never round up.
5. Ontario units first occupied after November 15, 2018 may be exempt from the guideline.BC lists no comparable exemption.
