What's Inside

The first 5 of 13 steps

  1. Money or possession?Rent, a deposit, damages or ending the tenancy: RTDRS can hear these.
  2. An order to repair or to stop a future act?RTDRS cannot make it (alberta.ca/rtdrs-apply); ask a court, and for repairs contact public health.
  3. Over $100,000?Both RTDRS and the Court of Justice stop at $100,000; use the Court of King's Bench.
  4. Has either side already filed? An RTDRS filing binds both sides; a court filing blocks RTDRS (ss.54.2(3), 54.3).
  5. Within 2 years?RTDRS asks for applications within 2 years of discovering the claim.
