What's Inside

The first 5 of 13 steps

  1. Is the stay under 90 consecutive days?If not, it is not a short-term rental under the Act.
  2. Check the Province's community list and map.The requirement applies in municipalities of 10,000 and over, smaller communities very close to them, and opt-in communities. The regulation governs, not the map.
  3. Check for an exemption: a small municipality not within 15 km of a larger one, listed resort areas, most electoral and Islands Trust areas, or Class 9 farm land.
  4. Recheck each spring.Opt-out and opt-in requests are due February 28; changes take effect June 1 or November 1.
  5. Host only in your principal residence, the usual place where you make your home. You have one at a time.
