What's Inside

The first 5 of 11 steps

  1. The limit is 2.2% for increases that take effect on or after January 1, 2027.It depends on when the increase starts, not when the notice was written.
  2. The limit is a maximum, not an automatic increase.Your landlord can charge less, or nothing at all.
  3. Multiply your current rent by 0.022.No rounding up.
  4. Add 12 months to the date your last increase took effect.A new owner does not restart the clock.
  5. Check when you received the notice. With rent due on the 1st: by October 31, 2026 for February 1; November 30 for March 1; December 31 for April 1; January 31, 2027 for May 1. Mail counts on the fifth day; email to an address you gave for service, the door or your mailbox on the third day.
