Corrections policy

When we get it wrong, we fix it in the open.

How to report an error in one of our articles, and what we do about it.

Report an error

Email [email protected] with the address (URL) of the article, what you believe is wrong, and a source for the correct information if you have one.

Email [email protected]

What we do

We reply within 2 business days to say we have received your report and are looking into it.

If the article is wrong, we correct it and add a dated note to the article saying what was corrected. We do not silently change a fact that readers may have relied on.

Small fixes that do not change any fact, such as a typo or a broken link, may be made without a note.

Updates are not corrections

When a rule changes after we publish, we update the article and show the date it was last updated. That is an update, not a correction of an error.

Our standards

Our editorial policy explains how we source and check what we publish, and our masthead names who is responsible for it.
